Retailer of last resort
It is very unlikely to happen, but if your electricity retailer goes out of business your account will be automatically transferred to another retailer under arrangements with the Queensland Government. Your electricity will not be disconnected and you will be charged for your electricity at the regulated price set by Queensland Government.
If your gas retailer goes out of business the Minister for Mines and Energy has the power to direct another retailer to sell you gas and make sure your supply is not interrupted.
